WILLIAM DEVENEAU WILL BE SPEAKING AT AN EVENT
FOCUSED ON BUSINESS SUCCESSION PLANNING
Bennington, VT – The Vermont Employee Ownership Center (VEOC) is sponsoring an introduction to business succession planning on March 31 from 2pm to 5pm at the Bennington Fire House.
William Deveneau, Managing Partner of Veracity Financial Group, will be speaking at the event. William’s focus is on tax planning and compliance for businesses and individuals. He also works with companies on business turnarounds and restructuring.
“It is extremely important to plan for business succession, be it within the family or outside. Not taking the time to plan will lead to many problems when the time for succession arrives and the owner may no longer be alive. This is a very important event for business owners” said William.
“Succession planning ensures that the business continues in the hands of and operates in the fashion the previous owner hoped it would. Poor or no succession planning can also create large tax consequences and loss of value for future generations” said William.
Any business owners or key employees or managers should attend this event. More information on the event and a link for registration can be found below.

The Search for a Good Exit:
An Introduction to Ownership Succession Planning
An introduction to business ownership succession planning will be offered on Tuesday, March 31 from 2:00 to 5:00 in the 3rd floor meeting room at the Bennington Firehouse, 130 River Street in Bennington. There is no cost for this event. Attendees will receive a copy of “An Owner’s Guide to Business Succession Planning.”
In this seminar, you will learn the basics of how to choose a path for ownership succession in your business. We will take a close look at four different ways of selling a business: to an outsider, to family members, to managers and to the larger group of employees. While we will get into some technical details, the focus will be on stories about each path, told via video by owners who have been involved in the sale of Vermont businesses. John P. Murphy, President of Atlantic Management Company, and William Deveneau, Managing Partner of Veracity Financial Group LLC, will give an overview of the mechanics of the most common ownership transition models.
Attendance is limited to business owners and key managers.
Sponsors of the event are the Town of Bennington, the Bennington County Industrial Corporation, the Vermont Small Business Development Center, the Vermont Manufacturing Extension Center and the Vermont Employee Ownership Center, with funding provided by Northfield Savings Bank and the Vermont Agency of Commerce and Community Development.
