The firm is led by the Managing Partner, William Deveneau. In addition to having day-to-day responsibilities with clients, William is tasked with business development and general management of firm operations.
William is a co-founder and the Managing Partner of Veracity Financial Group LLC. He specializes in tax services and business turnarounds and restructuring. He has been contracted as the part-time and as-needed CFO and business turnaround consultant of several companies. For several years he was the Treasurer of the Vermont Troopers’ Association, a labor union. He helped lead the Association as it transitioned from a bargaining unit of the VSEA into a standalone union. He was also part of the negotiating team that secured several positive contracts for the troopers.
He has worked with companies in various industries, including private equity, personal care, health care, education, and e-commerce among others. He has a successful record of helping companies get their costs under control, increase profitability, and increase overall value to shareholders and owners. These results are accomplished through detail-oriented fact-finding interviews, analysis of data and financials, audit of overall company operations, and understanding of where the company’s management wants to lead the company. He has also helped companies raise capital for expansion and funding their normal operations.
William works with clients, individuals and businesses, to maintain tax compliance. With individuals it may be return preparation, estimated tax calculations, tax planning, or other tax strategies and compliance measures. With businesses and other entities, it may be return preparation, monthlies, quarterlies, payroll compliance, tax planning, and other tax minimization strategies. William provides advice to individuals and businesses regarding transactions, planned changes, and other significant tax events. He performs in-depth research to provide clients with opinion letters on certain events and potential events. He also provides tax policy review, planning, and government relations regarding potential policy changes.
William is also the Founder of Squam Ventures LLC. This company provides financial support to start-ups and other small businesses that need small capital infusions to help them succeed and grow. It is also an umbrella corporation for other ventures he oversees. As it increases in size, he hopes to be able to help businesses on a larger scale. There are plans in the future to offer opportunities in a Limited Partnership for investors to participate.
William holds an Associate of Science and Bachelor of Science in Community and Human Services. He also holds a graduate level certificate in the Foundations of Business from the University of Massachusetts. This is similar to a 6 class mini-MBA. He is currently conducting his MBA studies at the University of Massachusetts with a concentration in Finance. He completed his law degree at Albany Law School, receiving two awards in the areas of taxation and corporate law.
William was appointed to represent the Town of Bennington on the Bennington County Regional Commission. He is also a member of the Bennington Rotary, Bennington Young Professionals, Bennington Chamber of Commerce, and Better Bennington Corporation. William is a Board Member of Bennington Project Independence (BPI).
William lives in Bennington, Vermont with his wife and two children. He is interested in financial markets, government & politics, real estate, chess, golf, and spending time with family.
